Schneider holds of Reuvers at Raceway Park

By Corey Butler Jr.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. -- Jason Schneider held off Donny Reuvers for the final seven laps for his second win in the Country Joe Homes Late Models. Reuvers moved to second during the 10th circuit and reeled in Schneider little by little.  However, as he moved within two car lengths of Schneider, a caution slowed the field to bring them together.  After two more cautions, not resulting in a green flag lap, Schneider and Reuvers were able to pull away from the field and stage an enticing battle for the lead.  Reuvers attempted many times to get his nose under Schneider’s rear bumper exiting turns two and four, but Schneider repeatedly closed the door.  Reuvers settled for second as James Leffler rounded out the top three.

Jeremy Wolff was all smiles after winning his second Turtle’s Bar & Grill Hobby Stock feature of the year.  Wolff built a sizable lead when a late caution brought the field together, but that couldn’t waiver his yearning for the win.  Wolff went unchallenged in the remaining laps to win the main event.  Wolff took the lead on lap 10 after passing both Terry Krupich and Louis Ansolabehere on the outside groove.  Tim Lewis was the big mover of the class, coming from deep in the field to stage a second place finish.  Lucas Grosinger took home third place honors.

Paul Haeg came from the fourth row to win the Coca-Cola Short Tracker feature in convincing fashion.  Haeg picked off car after car en route to the front and took the lead on lap nine.  Also following suit, after starting in the fifth row, was defending champion Mike Dimmick. Dimmick followed Haeg stride for stride as he moved into second on the 15th circuit.  Dimmick reeled Haeg in the waning laps, but ran out of time as he settled for second.  Charlie Pehrson, who started first, was able to hold off a bevy of cars for third.

It was all Chevy Miller in the Lupient Chevrolet of Belle Plaine Bombers as he went green flag to checkered flag in the first position.  A caution with four laps to go was Miller’s only worry as the field was brought together.  However, Miller went untested as point leader Zach Kersting challenged from the second position.  They would cross the line that way with Donny Little rounding out the top three.

In the first of two Miller Lite Figure 8 features, Todd Wilson was able to claim victory as he worked his way to the lead from mid-field.  Wilson took the lead on lap eight from Louis Ansolabehere as he went on to dodge cars in the “X” and built a lead.  On the last lap, Mark Bronstad, who led early, was able to get back by Ansolabehere to claim second.  Ansolabehere settled for third.

The second Miller Lite Figure 8 feature saw a lot of near misses in the “X” that had the fans on their feet and applauding the fortitude of the drivers that take on the “Crossroads of Doom” twice in one night.  The man leading the charge all by his lonesome was Adam Radiske, who took the lead on the first lap and had the fans in attendance peaking through their crossed fingers every half lap.  As the field spread apart, there were plenty of near misses, but fortunately the race was able to go without any major incidents, as the races lone caution was for a single car spin.  Todd Wilson, who won the first feature, worked from deep in the field and made a lot of late passes to move to second at the drop of the checkered flag.  Dave Nogle stayed near the front all race long and settled for third.

And the ever-popular Powder Puff races took place following the regular racing action.  The two winners were Annie Estes and Kim Dimmick.
