Reuvers rounds up another win at Raceway Park
By Corey Butler Jr.

SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Donny Reuvers cruised to another feature win Sunday at Raceway Park. Reuvers worked into the lead from his third row starting spot by the seventh circuit, passing Gary Petrash who led every lap to that point.  Petrash, affectionately known as the “Gray Wolf,” was passed eight laps later by the only other feature winner of the year, Jason Schneider.  A late caution brought the field together and Matt Goede optioned to start outside on the restart and was able to get by Petrash to claim third, following Reuvers and Schneider across the finish line.

Steve Marschall could be considered the Donny Reuvers of the Turtle’s Bar & Grill Hobby Stocks, if not for his three hellacious nights of the year.  Marschall won his fifth feature of the year in convincing fashion, as he pulled away from Mark Hawes in the waning laps of the feature.  As Marschall put distance between he and the rest of the field, defending champion Bill Woodworth worked on Hawes for second, attempting every which way around him.  However, Hawes was able to hold on and claim the runner-up position.  Woodworth settled for third.

In an impressive outing, Paul Haeg worked from deep in the field and used the outside line to catapult himself into victory lane in the Coca-Cola Short Trackers.  In three consecutive circuits, Haeg worked from fourth into third, passing Terry Larson, then into second by getting around Eric Larson, and eventually into the lead, passing Joe Neisius.  A late caution brought the field together, however, Haeg pulled away once racing resumed.  Neisius held on for second and Eric Larson rounded out the top three.

In the Lupient Chevrolet of Belle Plaine Bombers, Todd Eberhardy showed his power by claiming the main event.  Previous winners, Jamie Schoaf and Allen Eldred, finished second and third, respectively.

In the first of two Miller Lite Figure 8 features, Kevin Rutten was advantageous of his front row starting spot by winning the 15-lap affair.  Rutten didn’t win it easy, though, as he had many near misses in the “X,” both dodging cars and cars dodging him.  This allowed Ricky Martin to close in on him in the waning laps, but Martin was unable to mount a challenge as he finished two car lengths back.  Dennis Barta finished third. In the second Figure 8 feature, Dan McCarthy was able to take advantage of a late race caution and get by Steve Cheever with four laps remaining to claim the win.  Cheever, who ran up front all night, was overtaken by Troy Tuma one lap later and settled for third.

The Great North Legends made another appearance at the “Action Attraction,” as Scott Brandt won under the lights.  Brandt, who worked his way from the back, took the lead on lap seven, overtaking Andy Hansen.  Hansen held on for second as Kim Krause moved into third late.
