SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Jason Schneider pulled away from Donny Reuvers in the closing laps of the Country Joe Homes Late Model feature to capture his third main event of the year.
Schneider, who started inside the second row, passed Gary Petrash on the sixth circuit to take second place and two laps later passed Molly Rhoads to take the lead. Schneider built a sizable lead before a solo spin by Matt Goede brought out the races only caution on lap 11. When racing resumed, Reuvers quickly worked by Rhoads and set his sight on Schneider. Reuvers got to Schneider’s bumper and after a few attempts around the No. 11 of Schneider; he faded and finished two car lengths behind Schneider at the finish line. Gary Petrash moved to third late in the race.
Tim Lewis took home top honors in the Turtle’s Bar & Grill Hobby Stocks. Lewis took the lead on the second lap after making contact with Ray Sandgren. Sandgren pulled to the infield with a cut tire and Lewis pulled away from the field. A lengthy caution on lap 20, due to a large amount of fluid from Jeremy Wolff’s car was the only delay in the racing action. Once the action picked up again, Lewis drove to a comfortable win with Lucas Grosinger and Mark Hawes in tow.
Paul Haeg showed once again why he’s the points leader in the Coca-Cola Short Trackers. After starting deep in the field for the special 30-lap invitational race, Haeg worked himself to third with 12 laps remaining. Three laps later, Haeg worked by Eric Larson to claim second and moved in on Joe Neisius. Haeg and Neisius battled side-by-side for two laps before a caution for fluid slowed the race. Once racing resumed, Haeg jumped to the outside line for a three-lap dash. Haeg bested Neisius at the line by less than a fender length. Larson settled for third.
The Lupient Chevrolet of Belle Plaine Bombers saw a couple late cautions, but that couldn’t deter Chevy Miller from claiming top honors. Two late cautions, one for Craig Furlong dropping water on the track and another for a bizarre incident involving Taylor Goldman flipping her car on the front straight, delayed the eager Miller from the win. When racing resumed for a two-lap dash, Miller held off Zack Kersting and Todd Eberhardy for the win. However, Kersting was docked positions for rough driving, moving Eberhardy to second and Eric Montour to third.
In the first of two Miller Lite Figure 8 features, Steve Dehler showed his prowess in the black No. 3 as he took the lead midway through the race from Mitch Olson and never looked back. Olson settled for third as John Lebens made a late race pass to take the second position. In the second Figure 8 feature, it looked as if it was Fred Radiske all the way, as he lead the first 14 laps, but the veteran Dennis Barta used a little bump and run on Radiske and got by him on the last lap for the win. Radiske wasn’t able to settle back into second as Ricky Martin quickly followed Barta. Radiske settled for third.
