SHAKOPEE, Minn. – Jason Schneider held off Jon Lemke and Matt Goede in the final 13 laps to win his third straight and fifth feature win of the year in the Country Joe Homes Late Models. The cooler weather apparently wasn’t enough to cool of the 15 drivers in the main event, as eight cautions delayed the first 14 laps. However, when racing resumed on the 15th circuit, Schneider worked outside of Goede and by him two laps later, never looking back as he raced towards the finish. Schneider led Lemke by two car lengths at the finish line with Goede back five from Lemke.
Steve Marschall returned this week to win his division leading sixth feature in the Turtle’s Bar & Grill Hobby Stocks. Starting from the pole, Marschall quickly jumped to the point, but was slowed by a caution on the second lap. Once racing resumed, Marschall once again jumped out to the lead with Jeremy Wolff tucking in behind and Tim Lewis moving to third. The top three remained that way for the final 23 circuits.
Mike Dimmick held off Paul Haeg to win the main event in the Coca-Cola Short Trackers. Dimmick took the lead from Charlie Pehrson on the sixth circuit and begun working on his lead. Meanwhile, Paul Haeg was diced through the field and worked his way towards the front. Haeg moved to second on the eighth circuit and found Dimmick’s bumper. Haeg pulled along side Dimmick on the 15th lap and moved ahead by inches three laps later. However, Dimmick used the inside line to his favor and was able to beat Haeg out of turn four on the last lap to claim victory. Eric Larson rounded out the top three.
Charity Schneider was all smiles following her first ever feature win in the Lupient Chevrolet of Belle Plaine Bombers. After starting on the outside pole, Schneider fell back as pole-sitter Steve Brock took command of the lead. However, six laps later, Schneider pulled under Brock to claim the front spot. Schneider held on for the remaining nine laps as she held off Dave Montour. Brock settled for third. On a side note, along with Schneider winning for the women in the main event, Taylor Goldman also won her heat race earlier in the night, making the women two for three in the Bomber division.
To continue with the aforementioned winning women, Kari Miller won her first feature of the year in the Miller Lite Figure 8’s. Starting on the outside pole, Miller quickly moved into first and held her own against veterans Jay Barta and Steve Dehler. Two cautions slowed the action and late in the race Miller had to deal with a few other veterans in Adam Radiske and Ricky Martin. However, she proved that she belonged in the “Wild ‘n’ Crazy” Figure 8’s by holding on to win against some of the most courageous and/or craziest racers in the country.
In the second Figure 8 feature, Rick Martin also was advantageous of his front row starting spot, by taking the lead early and never relinquishing it throughout the race. In the end, Martin held off Steve Dehler and Matt Dickey.
